Charles D. Naylor has been a maritime personal injury trial lawyer in the state and federal courts of Southern California for 50 years. During his career, Mr. Naylor has successfully settled or tried hundreds of cases arising from injuries occurring in the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach and around the world.
Mr. Naylor enjoys a national reputation among his peers for his strict adherence to the highest standards of ethics, quality of work, and successful prosecution of injury cases. In 2007 he was a finalist for the Consumer Attorney of the Year Award presented by the Consumer Attorneys of California and in 2008 was a recipient of California Lawyer Magazine’s prestigious CLAY Award.
Mr. Naylor has an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating possible from the most respected national legal rating service, and has been recognized by Southern California Super Lawyers as one of the “top attorneys in southern California” every year since 2007.
Among his recent jury trial verdicts, in a 2007 wrongful death case Mr. Naylor obtained a verdict of more than $55 million for the family of a deceased longshoreman and a settlement agreement of $3.2 million for an injured longshore woman.
Mr. Naylor has been a lecturer for the State of California, Continuing Education of the Bar program and serves as a Neutral Evaluator for the Los Angeles County Superior Courts for maritime injury cases. He is a commissioner of the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization Admiralty & Maritime Consulting Group, where he has played a vital role in the development of criteria for certification in California as a specialist in Admiralty and Maritime Law.
Mr. Naylor is also an adjunct Professor of Law, teaching Admiralty and Maritime Law at Chapman University School of Law. He is a member and Past-President of the Maritime Section of the Long Beach Bar Association, the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the American Association For Justice (formerly American Trial Lawyers Association) Admiralty section, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, WILG and is a “Bencher” member of the Joseph A. Ball/Clarence S. Hunt Inn of Court.
