Wrongful Death Attorneys

When an individual dies due to the negligence of another person or party, the family of the victim can file a wrongful death lawsuit against those they believe were negligent. There are a number of factors that result in a wrongful death. If a party or person acts with recklessness or disregard for a person’s safety or acted with the intent to cause a death, and a person dies as a result of the action or inaction, the death can be considered wrongful. When a wrongful death occurs, the negligent party can be held accountable.

There are a number of events that can cause wrongful death. Motor vehicles cause thousands of deaths each year. In many of these cases, there are negligent actions committed that contributed to the accident. For instance, a car could have been speeding or the driver could have been intoxicated. Medical Malpractice is another event that can cause wrongful death. This occurs if a health professional fails to provide an acceptable standard of care. Defective products are another event that causes wrongful death. Under product liability law, manufacturers, distributors, and product designers have an obligation to ensure the products they make and sell are safe for the public. Unfortunately, this does not always happen, and people have died from using an unsafe product.

Hazardous workplaces are common which have resulted in deaths. For instance, wrongful death can result from falls, burns, explosions, equipment related accidents. There have been deaths in such work environments as manufacturing plants, construction sites, mining sites, etc. For all of the reasons why wrongful deaths occur, if surviving family members want to take civil action against a negligent third party, they would be wise to contact a lawyer that specializes on wrongful death.

When it comes to the wrongful death of a loved one, family members do have the legal right to hold the negligent party accountable. A wrongful death attorney is experienced and dedicated to this area of the law. A wrongful death attorney can help ensure the family receives a fair resolution. As well, the attorney will fight on their client’s behalf to recover damages for support, lost care, support, inheritance, and more. Applying the law can be complicated when it comes to wrongful death therefore a wrongful death will have the knowledge and expertise to protect your rights. An experienced wrongful death attorney can tell you if you have a wrongful death claim, what damages you may be able to recover, and create the best strategy to settle or litigate the case.

Families who file a successful wrongful death lawsuit can be awarded thousands, even millions, of dollars. Damages in wrongful death cases can be awarded for the deceased’s loss of wages, medical bills, etc. Although there is nothing that can bring a family member back after their death, holding the negligent party accountable for their wrongful actions can provide a family with a bit of closure after such a horrible and tragic event.
